when the Prince Imperial was aged about eighteen.

As
can be seen from the above photograph, taken outside the
Bull's Head at the turn of the 20th century, Chislehurst was
still just a small rural village. It was popular with Londoners
as somewhere to go for a trip into the countryside for a picnic.
